Saving on Shipping by Using Predictive Modelling

OK so maybe it's a bit geeky of me to find this terribly interesting but it's about saving money (which I'm definitely into) and logistics (a sometimes tangential interest). Apparently Dell saves 60% on their shipping costs (which I imagine must be gargantuan) by using predictive modeling. Per Crunchgear:
