I'm not in a position to really recommend any of them myself I would agree that the Red Cross generally isn't a bad bet. While I'm typically pretty cynical about the administration and effectiveness of charities (particularly ones that focus on "poverty alleviation"), relief in the aftermath of war or natural disasters is one of those things that are best addressed through contributions to those affected with no strings attached. While the situation appears far worse in Myanmar, there appears to be at least an opportunity for foreign donors to make a difference in China.
